Howdy gang,

Quick question, I had the fuel filter replaced on my 1999 4.0 SOHC Sport, and ever since it really cranks for 5+ seconds before it'll actually fire-up. I did plenty of searching, and reading... to no avail (everybody else had more serious problems). The work was done at Firestone because I'm too lazy to lay in the snow, and they owed me $50 :)

The truck runs just fine, accelerates as it always has, runs as good as it ever did... only now, a long crank now to get it fired up. Never had this problem a day in her life, so my OCD is kicking in... any ideas?

Which direction?

There's an arrow on the fuel filter that should point from the tank toward the engine indicating the designed flow direction. There's a remote possibility the filter is installed in the wrong direction.

I always add a bottle of fuel injection cleaner after replacing the fuel filter.
