When I startup my X, it never wants to fire up on the first go around. Then when it finally starts, it sounds like it's starving for fuel, just an obnoxious sound/rattle to it.

Does anybody have or had this problem and what might fix it? I'm going to do plugs and wires this weekend. Also going to clean the MAF, change out the PCV valve and clean the IAC and anything else that I find from looking through the posts that I come across. Just wondering if this is something that might fix this little problem that I'm having?

Any recommendation on plugs and wires?

Any input would be appreciated, as always ;)

Bobby, this might sound weird...but the first thing I would try to do is run some fuel injector cleaner through. Also start using 87 octane gas, or whatever as long as it doesn't have Ethenol in it. I am guessing that right now it sounds like a dead cylinder when you start it up. Surprising enough, I bet you are running ethenol. As far as replacement plugs and wires. Go with the Motorcraft, you will be happy. These things are picky!!

i also think it is the iac

Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, it does sound like it's running on less than 6 cylinders on startup. I will definately put in new plugs this weekend and do a little cleaning of everything.

I'm also going to retorque the intake bolts, sounds like a problem of them loosening up, from other posts that I've read here.

I used some SeaFoam on the first day that I had it and it sounded great, idled fine and really had to listen to make sure that it was running, but the motor was warm too. I'm going to run SeaFoam through it again, but through the PCV valve, should give the nosey neighbors something to talk about :)

I'll let you guys know what transpires over the weekend or if anything that I do helps out. Thanks again for the help!
