about a week ago i turned on my car only for it to shut off after a few seconds. repeatedly trying to start it back up again i couldnt. but the next day, it started up fine and hasnt given me any problems since, which was over a wekk ago. until today, i drove it to school, came back to it a couple hours later and it did the same thing, so i had to leave it the parking lot. I came back later that day and wouldnt you know? it started up just fine. The battery is practically brand new, im thinking a bad starter, alternator, or posession.

Check your fuel pump relay

Zool, does it turn over at all? When you key on, can you hear any clicking or whirring sounds? I just dealt with my 91, albeit the symptoms were a little different.
If you turn the key, and you do not hear the fuel pump come on, or any 'clunk' from the right hand side of the engine compartment - it may be the EEC or fuel pump relays under the power distribution box under the hood. Another idea is your ignition switch (mine caught on fire in 2000, almost lost the truck!). If she does crank over, but does not catch, suspect fuel pump, fuel filter, crank angle sensor....

Let me know a little more what happens after you turn the key to on, not to ignition...

Good Luck

yah i did notice a small clicking noise when just turning the key on.

the first time this happened it did turn over but didnt catch like you said and then every attempt after that it doesnt turn over at all.

When I have had problems with intermiten starting , it was almost always something to do with the battery cables. Check your cable connections to the battery, if those are good, then check them as they go under the motor. If they haven't been replaced, you might think about doing so.

I second Goober. If you haven't done it, replace the cables - They rot on the inside where you can't see it......
