Ok i bought my truck last month and it is in really good shape with 106,000 on it. Had a few issues I took car of. I have what feels like a vibration when you are at a stop light at idle. I cant figure it out to save my life. Just did plugs, fuel filter, air filter, changed valve cover gaskets, rear diff fluid change, trans fluid and filter, thermostat and housing, idler pulley, belt and tensioner all from rock out for under 200 dollars for all the parts. Anyways I was reading that some 04's had a issue and cause a vibration but i looked at mine and it looks different. any advise please

do you have a circle, or a circle with 2 lobes in it open?

just a circle looks like a donut lol

stick your finger in the circle, is the metal thing broken in it, it has a metal ring the inside of the circle, it comes lose, if it does, the damper is busted.

the new damper, will be a circle, with 2 lobes cut out.

mine is like this metal rubber metal with a hollow center

stick your finger into the center, there is a ring, that is suppose to be mfg, glued to the outter inside the damper, they break, and you can move them around inside.

if you can move a ring inside the middle around, the damper is busted, and you need a new one, the new one is updated and does not have that ring.

Ok sounds good i will check thanks

any other ideas on what the vibration could be

anything wiggling in the damper?

clogged cats? missfire?

NO misfires nothing I have no codes or stored codes

if i remember right, 04 explorers had a reprogram, tho to me it did nothing to idle quality but it was for idle quality.

Ok update the rubber has spider cracks in it and when the truck is running the balancer looks to have a slight wobble in it

anyone please advise

anyone else got any ideas

Ok I changed the balancer today and still feeling what seems to be loopey idle or vibration does it at idle. The rpms dont fluctuate or anything anything else this could be

Have you cleaned the MAF sensor and the throttle plate?

be

just the throttle plate but not the maf sensor what should i use?

Its very easily damaged, so don't touch it. Just use a spray cleaner meant for throttle plates. One that wont damage the sensors. I take both sides of the air intake loose and spray through the screen to clean it.

Upon edit, you may have done so already, check your plug wires. I reread your post and didn't see where you did them. Fords are hard on plugs and wires for some reason. I replaced plugs and wires on my wife's 04 Stang at 100000. Long story short, it developed a strange miss after 130000 and had burnt up one of the six plugs even though they were double platinum Motorcraft. The rest of the plugs were fine.

good luck
