Hey all,

I just had my 95 Explorer XLT in for some work (New Reflex Shocks Front and Rear, New Brake Pads and Rotors Front and Rear, Fuel Filter, PCV Valve, Plugs, Ign. Wires, Oil Filter, Air Filter) I thought that this would fix a few problems I've been having lately. The major one being a harsh on again off again vibration in the front end when I get to speeds of 120-130 kph on the highway. It'll do it for a few minutes and then it'll stop on its own. Would it be the calipers brushing against the rotors as they are spinning? My friend has the exact same problem on his 91 Acura Legend LS and he still hasn't found the cause. Any ideas?

Welcome to the site!

First, what kind of tires do you have? A lot of SUV tires can be easily cupped and this will cause a bad vibration. Have the wheels checked and balanced and see if that helps. Unlikely its a brake caliper.

Hey all,

Thanks.....It's a good site, with a lot of excellent info.

I have four new Hercules All-Trac tires that are stock size. They were put on about 5,000 kms ago. They were also balanced and aligned at that time as well.

Try rotating the tires, sounds like a balance problem. Heres a tip, if you feel it in the steering wheel, then it is in the front end, and if you feel it in the seat, then it is a rear problem, thats an old school trick, but might help you narrow it down. Does only do it at a certain speed, and then go away if you go faster?
