Harsh Ride

What can be the cause of my X riding so harsh? A friend of mine at work has the same year and model, hers is a V8, same tires, same miles as mine and rides much smoother. Mine seems very harsh over ever bump, crack, seems to make more noise also. Any ideas???

My '04 had some bad struts. I could feel every crack in the road, even new payment was bad. I had low mileage but was out of warranty. Dealer had a special, had all four done. Ride is much better, very firm but no noise. That same new road - didn't hear or feal any cracks. Tried the bumper test but it was hard to tell if they where worn, but my 10 year old jeep was smother on the same road so I took a shot.

Make sure you don't have one or two busted rear springs!

I will check the springs tonight. What kind of shocks / struts did you get?

Check your air pressure in your tires and compare it to what your friend is running. If you air your tires up too much it will cause a stiff ride. It gives you better fuel economy though so it is a trade off.

I will check hers. I run 34 front 36 rear on Michelin cross terrains. What do you guys run?
