I changed my mounty from the stock 3.55 open lock to a ford racing cobra trutrac and ford racing 4.10's. It is a great modification for some extra grunt. I can spin over my 22"s with no problem.
The main thing that you are going to run into is getting a smaller shim for the rearend.
