Can any tell me if the white bondo is factory or my vehicle been in a wreck? Does anyone else have this in their vehicle. It is on both driver and passenger side.

Looks like seam sealer applied to a joint after the body was painted to me, appears factory judging from the photos.

body seam sealer, not bondo
your good!

Agreed. Totally normal.

That was my thought as well.

Wow no wonder there are so many lawsuits against ford. Behind both of my taillights, there is bondo. It looks like someone did it by hand. I should have bought a jeep Cherokee latitude. I owned explorers all my life, and this is by far the worst built. My sterling grey paint doesnt even match other ford vehicles. I was parked next to a 2016 F150 sterling grey, and that vehicle was way darker than mines. Around the top circular drainage for the hatchback seam it looks like they used plumber pudding for bathroom. What annoys me is the left and right cargo trim panels rattles so much while driving. I fixed one side by using cushion tape. The engineers didnt think about making sure the spare donut tire sits flush with the carjack.

My sister Infinite is built with quality, strength, stability, and comfort. It can handle any bump on the road, and nothing vibrates in the car. On the same road my explorer feels like it is going to fall apart.

It’s not bondo.

I guarantee the same is used on that Heep as well.

Well whatever I peeled over the bondo, had the same pink color as bondo

Every car uses seam sealer. It’s not a problem, or shortcoming. It’s nothing like “bondo” ( which is nothing but a brand, and it’s color is irrelevant, it’s body filler which this ISNT) Body filler is porous, and absorbs water. Seam sealer is more on par with a silicon or urethane and is not water absorbing.

Regardless what this vehicle was put together poorly. I travel the same road my sister uses. Her infiniti does not make any noise, like my car does. Either my car been an accident or ford did a poor job manufacturing this vehicle. If it is factory, then shame on Ford.

Sorry I meant there is bondo behind the taillight. I also never seen a car where you could push on the metal and bends so easily. My old explorer never did this at all, but my new explorer rear quarter panel hardly requires any force to push the metal inwards. Feels like it was put together by soda cans.

As for the words you used to describe your sister's Infinity, those would also apply to the 2011 and 2017 Explorers I had. No rattles or squeaks on any surface.

I finally found what happened, I just found out the rear windshield is not factory. Most likely the taillight was rear replaced by previous. I dont know how my vehicle has a clean title.

Because it wasn’t totaled.

That's not correct, its only total if its reported to the insurance companies. If the owner of the dealership bought the vehicle, and did the repair themselves. Then the vehicle will still have a clean title.

Well if my car is factory, this is the ****test ford I have driven. I am disappointed with ford. I think found the rattle.

The hatchback rattles.
The trim panels in cargo rattles.
The 3rd row seat rattles against the d pillar metal.
The pipe that holds the 3rd seat is rusted out.

Your car could have been in an accident with any of its previous owners. Most likely they:
1. Filed a claim.
2. The damage was less then required to total the car.
3. The damage was fixed (very possibly improperly, and possibly by the previous owner themselves. Insurance pays someone.
4. It gets traded in.
5. You purchase it with a legitimately clean title.
6. You have rattles and squeaks of an improperly repaired or maintained vehicle.

Well I found, where the noise is coming from. I removed the left trim panel, and seems like the rear left interior quarter panel is rattle against the ac system.

There is also play for the seat belt anchor in the D-Pillar. When driving the anchor wiggles against the metal. The bolt in the D-Pillar is tight, but there is to much play to make a metal to metal noise while driving.

You have a 6-7 year old vehicle with a unknown history of what was done with it before you purchased it.

And you are blaming Ford??????
