I have had some subs in the back of my '93 Explorer for some time and I feel it is about damn time I fix the rattleing of my hatch. What I wanted to know is what is there to do to stop the rattling of the back hatch?

Thx

take it off :) have you taken the plastic off the back and dynomatted the hell out of it???? that would be the first thing i would do to get rid of the rattling. mine rattles on the rear winshield wiper as well, im not sure what to do to fix that

my whole hatch shifts when the bass hits, the turn knob to open the hatch rattles most....the gas tank area rattles, the rear window rattles and the side windows bubble out....i just live with it lol....nothing you can do, exploders are horrible with rattles

lol especially the 93 - 97 hatch. The wiper motor will rattle, and there is no way to stop that. I got rid of the opening mechanism by wedging foam tape in the slider so it would apply pressure. Dynomatting the back hatch will not stop those things from rattling. The rear window is actually not the thing rattling, if u open the window part of the hatch, and then press on the two circular things for the defroster, u will find that that rattle stops. The gas tank area, there is nothing really you can do. Try to seal off any air from escapng around your rear windows, and pray.

I have not been able to get rid of the rattles, but u cant hear them inside the car, so i gave up.

I think the previous owner of my truck must have done some sound deadening...I have NO rattles what so ever.
When I'm ready to finish my install I'm going to pull the panels off to see what's there. If there is something added I'll post what I've found...

you might also check that the liftgate recall was performed as well as stricker pin adjustment
- when i put my sub in i had to adjust my strickers in alittle to tighten up the liftgate

mine rattles at low levels too....now when i close my door it sounds like something broke when it closes....the windows are real loose in there now...im just stuck with my rattle and bulging windows....oh well lol

I had a little rattle in the back of my X. All I had to do was put 4 screws in the license plate instead of just 2. I tightened them up as tight as I could get them and now I have no rattle at all.

probably won't help him much considering his tags are not on the hatch likes yours, its on the bumper...
