I just got an 05 explorer 177k miles runs drives great little rust. I live in PA and just bought this thing. When I bought it the sticker was good till 9/15. Took it to get pre inspected ends up it needed nothing, so I got in inspected. I got the thing for 2200 out the door. Expected to spend some extra money for a couple things. It needs an alignment but that's it. So my question is what should I do. plugs wires I know I'm saying I got some money anything in particular I should focus on or for preventative measures besides the basics. I wanted to get a tranny fluid flush and dude said I shouldn't If I wasn't sure it had been changed every 75k miles. I'm not sure it has. Any Recommendations on any upgrades to do basically. Thanks fro reading. Any response appreciated

For God sakes Dave, you live in Erie, PA! Take that extra cash and go have a blast at the Erie Casino and "Let it Ride'! ;) On a more serious note and not as much fun as a trip to the Casino, changing out the plugs and wires wouldn't hurt and doesn't cost that much to do if doing the work yourself. Have the fuel filter changed as well and check the condition of the air filter. Also check ALL the fluid levels and condition and change what needs changing. Examples, front and rear Differentials, Transfer case and the guy was right, don't get a "Complete" Transmission flush, but rather look into having a Tranny pan drop and filter change (aka Tranny Tune-Up), and approx. 7 quarts of new tranny fluid added. Do not get a complete tranny flush (all 12 quarts changed). Check the brake pads and rotors for thickness and life expectancy as well. Anything I suggested to do with your Explorer can be found using the search box at the top of the forum and you can view past discussions on these types of topics or repairs to your Explorer. Just type a specific repair or maintenance question into the search box and include your year Explorer and engine size into your question and the system will pull up past posts on those topics. Good luck with your Explorer and or if you decide to take a trip to the Erie Casino! :D

HAHa only 22 man I actually haven't been to the casino here in Erie. I'll make sure the truck gets me there though. Anyways I know I already did the plugs and wires. Air filter is good. Brakes have like half left of thickness already passed inspection they are good. All fluids are good. Any ideas where to find any threads on diffs and tranny tune up. Why not do a full flush though, after having for a couple days every now and then it downshifts hard from 2nd to first. I have typed in that stuff and can't find any specific on diff fluid change or tranny tune up. I have the 4.0L. So any thread links appreciated thanks for answering.
