I have a 96 V6. The transmission was replaced at 100,000 miles with a factory rebuilt ford unit and new torque convertor. At 150,000 the flare started. First thing i did was change the fluid. No difference. Next i changed a couple of the solenoids out with others from a different transmission but i dont think it was the EPC i changed. No difference. Then i bought a Re-Built valve body. My truck is a 4R44 and i believe the valve body i got was for a 5R55..... Does this sound right?.... Since the valve body install i have driven it another 10,000 miles and all was pretty good until recently.

Its werid because i can drive the truck every day for a month and then there is one highway that i take to school, and everytime i am on this highway in the same spot my over drive light starts flashing......... Once reset i can drive it another 2 weeks and its fine until i take that same highway. I think its something in the grade in the road and what not.. its funny though.

Anyways... all of a sudden im getting flaring really bad. Seems to be doing it in both 1-2 and 2-3.... but 1-2 seems to go away if you drive it like you stole it, but is there if you drive gental... 2-3 is always there.

I just finished installing the superior shift correction kit and the 1-2 seems to be gone but the 2-3 is still there... and bad.

Basically... should i spend the money and install a brand new EPC solenoid or should i search for a junkyard tranny???

where is the best place to get a EPC solenoid? Doing a quick search online shows difference EPC solenoids... a RED and a GREEN... the Green is $200 and the Red is $76???? whats the difference? The one in the truck right now is Red.

what now??? Just installed a new EPC solenoid this morning and same 2-3 flare....


what else should i look at? this is becoming a pain in the a55.
 






Where did you buy the valve body? If it didn't come from a reputable company that installs alum. sleeves where needed and new valves and has the proper equipment to test the valve body, Like Central Valve Bodies, there are others, then you may have got a worn valve body to start with, which has failed after 10000 miles. Did you properly torque the valve body and did you use new separator plate gaskets when you installed the shift kit?
