I have a 96 V6. The transmission was replaced at 100,000 miles with a factory rebuilt ford unit and new torque convertor. At 150,000 the flare started. First thing i did was change the fluid. No difference. Next i changed a couple of the solenoids out with others from a different transmission but i dont think it was the EPC i changed. No difference. Then i bought a Re-Built valve body. My truck is a 4R44 and i believe the valve body i got was for a 5R55..... Does this sound right?.... Since the valve body install i have driven it another 10,000 miles and all was pretty good until recently.
Its werid because i can drive the truck every day for a month and then there is one highway that i take to school, and everytime i am on this highway in the same spot my over drive light starts flashing......... Once reset i can drive it another 2 weeks and its fine until i take that same highway. I think its something in the grade in the road and what not.. its funny though.
Anyways... all of a sudden im getting flaring really bad. Seems to be doing it in both 1-2 and 2-3.... but 1-2 seems to go away if you drive it like you stole it, but is there if you drive gental... 2-3 is always there.
I just finished installing the superior shift correction kit and the 1-2 seems to be gone but the 2-3 is still there... and bad.
Basically... should i spend the money and install a brand new EPC solenoid or should i search for a junkyard tranny???
where is the best place to get a EPC solenoid? Doing a quick search online shows difference EPC solenoids... a RED and a GREEN... the Green is $200 and the Red is $76???? whats the difference? The one in the truck right now is Red.
