2000 Ford Explorer Sport
Hello everyone,
My name is Bernard but feel free to call me Bet (acronym for my initials). I recently purchased a 2000 Ford Explorer Sport that has a few problems i.e. Door lock buttons work but doors do not actually lock; PO171 & 174 isuues; and radio light that does not illuminate although the stereo (original) works perfectly otherwise.
Afer reading a few of the posts on different forums, I truly plan on tapping into the wealth of information that this community has to offer. Hopeully, I can be of help to others in turn. Born in Chicago, I now live in the northwest suburbs. Looking forward to interacting with you all. Thanks for your help already, Rick.

From alldata. 0171 / 0174 running lean or rich issues might be the following Excessive fuel pressure or Leaking / contaminated fuel injectors.

Leaking fuel pressure regulator
Low fuel pressure
Vapor recovery system
MAF air leak
Vacuum leak
PVC system
Improperly seated oil dipstick
Leaking or stuck EGR
Oil overflow
Cam timing
Cylinder compression.
Exhaust leak before the O2 sensor

The most common reason for p0171 & p0174 on a 4.0l would be leaking intake gaskets. I wouldnt just assume thats what the problem is, but its something you should check out.

Thanks, Fiero. Gonna start with the posible vacuum leak, EGR, and and work my way from there.
