Haynes or Chilton?

What do you like better, the Haynes or Chilton manual?

new option: BOTH. I have chilton on CD and its pretty good to look up procedures, and seems to be more accurate than haynes, but the pictures are c###. my haynes is my standard manual, but is sometimes unclear on the procedures I need to use. so i use both when undertaking a large project.

I have haynes for the ex I dont like it. I have had good experiences with chilton for my other vehicles.

I've only used a Haynes, so thats my vote.

In general, Chiltons USED to be the best, their older manuals were incredible. I think Haynes manuals got better than Chiltons in the 90s.

I have never looked at a Chiltons for Explorers, so I can compare them.

A Ford Service Manual on CD is cheaper than both of them, and a MUCH better resource.

Started with the newer Chilton and exchanged it for the Haynes; definitely an improvement. Then purchased an older Chilton (for up to the 91 explorer) and found it far superior to the other two (tho it was missing some pages of the electrical diagrams).

i use haynes b/c it's the only one i have, but i don't like it much. i'm going to be buying the ford one online since i've heard good things about it...

I had to say Haynes b/c I've never even heard of Chilton.
I do have the Haynes though.

I have two shop manuals, the Ford OEM "1997 Truck" CD-ROM, its my absolute favorite and indespensible. I also have a Chilton's paper manual.

The ford shop manual on cd is the best, its cheap, easy to use, and you get maunauls for other vehicles and other years on the same cd.
