...although neither books are as good as they used to be, i prefer having both on hand if possible...over the years i found that if one book didn't have what i was looking for, the other one usually did...;)

^-- x2, both.

But for the most part, you can find most of the diagrams and "how to" steps from AutoZone's repair guide -- free online: http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm

The diagrams AutoZone uses are very similar (if not exactly the same) as the diagrams in the Chilton repair manual.

i was in a pinch one night and i needed some info....( before I found this site) and I signed up for the ChiltonDIY online manual. What a bunch of trash. view few, if any pics, and alot of the info isn't even correct ( they generalized too much between different vehicles).... The heat generated from me burning the $20 bill instead of spending it on that would have been more useful :D

But the hardcopies are ok. I am inline with tbars4... use 'em both.

I have a Haynes, never had a chance to checkout a Chilton. Many of people have told me to burn the Haynes and get a Chilton.

When it comes down to it.. Ford Service Manual.. very very detailed.. it's like putting together a model.

where can i get one of these nifty ford manual.. w/o spending a but load of money?

Check Helm Publications or EBay for a Ford manual. I use both the Chilton, and the Haynes manuals. Chilton has a CD too. I bought one in Pep Boys a while ago. BTW, I thought that there would be a poll above saying which manual do you use, then have check boxes for Chilton, Haynes, Both or Neither.

- Bookstores such as Barns & Noble, or Borders (also online)
- local auto stores such as PepBoys, and Advanced Auto

Poll Added..
