I have a 2007 Eddie Bauer 4.0 V6, 80k occasionally the TPM warning light will come on and the average MPG will freak out and track anywhere between 100 mpg to 2 mpg but eventually settle within a minute or two. During the winter months it happens more frequently but since the weather has improved I'm seeing it once every 2-3 weeks. Otherwise I'm really happy with it, I think the previous owner barely drove it.

All that I can say is start checking wire bundles. Sounds like you have a break in a wire somewhere that is shorting (under the dash because you run the heater during the winter and not so much in the spring?). Wish I could be more specific but this is where you have to know the wiring layout on the vehicle very good to figure out about what wire or where it could be. Maybe putting a reader on it can tell you what component is acting up and then you would have a little better idea.
