I just got a Pioneer DEH-P6400MP from Best Buy for $179.99 and I love it. MP3/WMA compatability was the reason I got it, but its also XM ready if I ever want to make that leap.

definetly go with pioneer. Has many built in features and great EQ options.

Some of my other needs are a remote and a pause button, can pioneer offer me those?

yes pretty much all pioneers come with a remote unless you get one for like 100 bucks. But, anything over that price will have one.

ebay electronics: what if it comes and it doesn't work?
