I'm getting a set of headers for the X (4.6). I think they are supposed to include the gaskets but I was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for a certain kind/brand to use. Obviously, I don't want to put something on there that's going to leak. Thanks for any input on it.

I was having gasket leak problems after I installed my headers. Now I use Remflex header gaskets and they have worked awsome, no more leaks. I heard of them from some mustang forums and highly recommend them. Read the "exclusive features".

Those do sound tempting. I didn't see my exact application listed, but some they do have listed might fit. Where did you get yours from?

I got mine straight from them. I just gave them a call and told them what I drive and what kind of heads I have (GT40P) and they were able to hook me up with some. Luckily they are located only a couple of hours from where I live so shipping was fast. You can even get a set of gaskets custom made but they're expensive. For my TM headers I had to get a flange gasket custom made to the right size because the driver's side header is 2 pieces and I needed the gasket custom made where those 2 pieces connected. They were very helpfull, give them call.

I got fel pro gaskets, they were soft lead, sealed very well. I'd buy some quality gaskets, ones that come with headers I wouldn't trust. That was the one short comming of the TMH's IMO.

Yes I agree and I wish I would have known that before I put on my TM's. I even called Robert and told him my problem and he agreed that his gaskets aren't the best. When I removed the gaskets that my TM's came with, they were stiff like and hardend like a rock. All I can say is it was a PITA changing them out because some of the gasket was stuck to my block so I basically had to remove my headers again just to scrape the old gasket off otherwise I could have slide the new gasket right in without having to remove the collector bolts.

I was lucky, my gaskets got hard just like you said, cracked and crumbled. They didn't stick to the block though, I think that had something to do with my cleaning the heads before I installed the headers. I removed the bolts, the gasket dropped out, put the new ones in.
