Rigless!
o.k. I've seen the other columns and one said should get an exhaust first, then the other said headers, both had their reasons. I'm planning to get one at a time and can someone please tell me which one I should go for first? Also, as you all know I'm new to this....

Daemon-I have a Super Converter cat along with a Ultra-flo stainless straight through muffler and 2.25 inch custom pipes. You can go with a Flowmaster, Gibson or a Borla. These are all great system, come complete and can be installed by you in about an hour. I went the custom route since I wanted to move the cat back a little to get it away from the passenger side radius arm bushing. If money is a factor than something like a Flowmaster is the way to go. Fairly inexpensive system but by no means poorly made. Many of the members here go with Flowmaster. They claim both sound and performance very pleasing. Also with the Flowmaster you'll probably have a choice of different chambered mufflers for your application. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/ Hope this helps.

S.Matsushige- Thank You very much again for your help!

Hi Daemon-Welcome to the best site in the world for your Explorer. All great members here who should be able to help you with any problems. I would recommend a good low restriction exhaust first. For the simple reason that stock exhaust in my opinion would cancel any benefits the headers are to give you. You'll notice quite a big difference when you go with a low restriction exhaust even without the headers. Headers is the icing on the cake. I ran a low restriction exhaust for some time on my '91XLT and was very pleased with the performance. I got a set of Borlas, but haven't installed them yet (can't wait). I just need to make the time. Though I must tell you that if you have the money and 33% off coupon (1357004 I think), the Borlas are a great deal at www.carparts.com - $235 for a set. Maybe now is the time to get them just to take advantage of the deal. I believe the coupon is good to the end of this month. Happy shopping!

Daemon-anytime-anytime! I'm glad I could be of help. Good luck with your next modification. I'll let you know how big a difference the headers make once I've installed them.

Might I suggest Dynomax? The system sounds good and with the Borla Headers I am planning to order sometime this week it will sound GREAT. Daemon, if money is somewhat of a factor then I would recommend Dynomax. The brand has a very good rep and I am pleased with mine. Just a suggestion. www.a-1performance.com Check it out before you decide.
