Anyone have good experience with replacing their headlight bulbs with something better than stock? I replaced my stock ones with some cheap $12 fake Xenon bulbs from Target, and they suck. I am trying to get increased brightness without blinding other drivers. I've heard good things about Silverstars, but they are a bit pricey. What are some good brands?

get the silverstars. they are well worth it. and price wise, you're lucky b/c i saw them at advanced auto the other day for like $39. i paid $50 for them about a year ago.

Silverstars are pretty cheap compared to what PIAA sells. I had a pair of PIAA for $65 3 years ago. For $30, you can't go wrong. Go for the Silverstars.

The Silverstars are worth the few extra bucks.

Sylvania XtraVision.

i got the silverstars at wally world for like 33.97 or something like that. i would definitely reccommend them.

I had PIAA 9007s in the old Explorer. They lasted for about 2 and a half years without any problems. My father used PIAA 9007s in his car and one burnt out after about 3 months. He figured his DRLs did it, since power came on when the car was started. Regardless, PIAA replaced them free of cost (and I think I sold the replacements on the FS/W board here).

PIAA stands behind their products. I have not tried Sylvanias yet, but they will probably go in the ST when a lamp burns out. Unless, of course, I can score myself a cheap set of PIAAs sooner.

best bulb for the money is stock

they are almost as bright and far cheaper than the other options. I say go stock or go with at least an upgraded wiring kit and over watt bulbs. or else go with HID

I've bought Green headlamp bulbs from a site here on the net (can't remember right off hand, will have to look for it). They're xenon gas filled and you can get them in blue, green, purple or yellow. For a set they are $15 plus a couple dollars shipping. They illuminate everything better I think. I'll get the site and post it when I find it.

Green lights sound cool, I can cruise around like the Green Hornet....but how legal are those? Don't seem like they would be. Stock lights are all that I've used. My friend got some of the midrange blue looking lights. Like $15 for a set, and they looked cool for a while, but eventually they lost their blue and were just like the yellow stock lamps. Plus they were annoying because they'd change color when he'd be driving behind me.

LOL, showing your age there big guy. Oh my, I still remember those shows, couldn't wait to get home and sit in front of that b/w T/V to watch those episodes. I guess it won't be long and we will have a new movie come out with the "Green Hornet". LOL, oh my, the flash backs. Thanks for the great laugh.

The technical support at the site told me they were DOT approved. That was the first question I asked. When I get home tonight I'll look up the site and post it here so if anyone has any interest they can look.

there is no way green headlights are DOT approved.

I've had them in for almost a year now, and I have NEVER got pulled or even warned. And yes, I do my fair share of night driving in a nicely policed area....

Just sticken it to ya a little Mkoback. :) I have never heard of someone getting pulled over for their headlight color. After getting stopped for something else, speeding, loud muffler ect. they might go to headlights. Seems you would have to piss off the cop before he would bother.

Just stating my case - no offense

i got pulled over one night after church in a residential neighborhood becuase the cop said my lights were too blue...... that was the only thing i was ticket for... when he asked me why i thought he pulled me over i was like, i dont know i wasnt doing anything wrong... then he just said that my headlights were too blue.... well i did have my security jacket on, and i did some creative citing of DOT FM-VSS 108 and SAE Compliance talk and he just said, ok, ill believe you and let me go.... they were not legal by the way..... but i played it off well... i changed them the next day....
