First off I'm very impressed with this site. I've just registered, but have been coming to this site for help for a while now and I can always find a thread that helps. I've found similar threads with the same problem I'm experiencing now, but no real discription for my vehicle year. I have an 01 explorer sport 4x4 and the headlights are going out on me. VERY dim running low beams and high beams work fine, but they have to be messed with. All fuses have been check and are fine, getting all there voltage. So my next step is to check the lamp outage module like everyone is talking about to see if that's it, but my question is, where do I find it? I don't have a center console like in the older model explorers. All I have is a tiny area on the bottom to hold some change. So, before go tearing apart my vehicle, I'd like to have some idea of where to look. Any advice and or pics would be great! Thank you all

What I would try, cheap and quick, go buy a 8$ headlight bulb from K-Mart or Meijers, just BASIC brand, swap a bulb, and see if that ones dim too.

I've done this also, they are both new bulbs. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well I only have a 92, so Im not familiar at all with the 01's otherwise Id try and help, sorry, hope its just something simple and small :p

Sports don't have LOM's. You have to have the center console with the message center to have it.

Whats the voltage getting to the socket for the light?

you said "VERY dim running low beams and high beams work fine, but they have to be messed with.".... what the heck does that mean... "messed with"... what are you "messing"... that is likely your problem. Hint.... MFS
