HID.
Does this tell me my headlights will be shinning bright blue.
I think it does and that may be the only thing I'm not to excited about.

Not necessarily, the color temperature of white varies from warm (yellowish) to cool (bluish).

You'll find that HID lights really light up the world when driving at night. I've had them for 6 years on my Lincoln Aviator and would never want anything else. I've put them on my motorcycles and when my new Ex arrives, I'm even replacing the fog lights with HID lights. You're gonna love them.

Hate to say it, but HID lights were one of the few things I wasn't willing to give up on this vehicle. I hope they work as well as you said, as we do a lot of night driving. HID are the only reason I want with Limited 302A, but it's the one thing I really would have missed if I had chosen something different.

I have to say that I myself am a huge fan of HID's. Give them a shot, night driving will never be the same!

Our 2011 limited was the first vehicle that has HID lights. They light up the road much better during night driving.

It's really unfortunate that FORD made this an option only with the highest end model + highest package. To me HID lights should be available to all models as an option, if not standard in the first place.

Nope, your thinking of the ricer eBay HIDs that everyone gets that are like blue LEDs.

You will have 4300k which is CRISP white, no yellow halogen tint, etc.

Your cutoff might have the blue line but thats about it.

I'll tell ya how much they work. Helped me see a dear off in the ditch. I don't think the lights on my old siverado would have picked it up. Breaks work real well to. Heart pounded about 1000 beats per minute. I especially like the way they shine off to the side of the road more. Cheers

What are the best options to replace the halogens with a better haolgen bulb? Does it make any difference over the stock bulb?

Bingo, the cutoff is where you'll notice that flicker of blue/purple. But overall they're a crisp white. Compared to halogen bulbs, they're much cooler so they may seem 'blue'.

HIDs are amazing and I wont get a car without them. When HIDs weren't available from the factory, I retrofitted in some bi-xenon projectors.

My new Limited has every option except, Adap. Cruise, Self Park and HID's. The only option I wanted, that I did not get was the HID's. Wish Ford made this available without the bundle. I have HID's in my sports cars. Great light quality.

Hopefully, Ford makes these more available in the future releases of new model years of the Explorer, and improves them to be dynamic cornering too.

So many who like their headlights. Guess I don't have a choice anyway! They are there to stay.
My Buick Lucerne car sits so much lower than some of the trucks with the bright white lights, I would often get blinded. My kids would tell me "here comes another one", as we headed straight into those beaming white blue lights. Suppose I'll be the one blinding all the cars now.:smoke:

I don't know what headlights are on the Lucerne but I can hardly imagine them being better. Goodbye car, Hello EX!

with the projector headlights, you can easily install HIDs aftermarket at a much cheaper cost and you won't get glare all over the place.

I ordered HIDs off DDM Tuning 8000K

I got the XLT and I want some brighter headlamps.

DIY coming soon

Is there any reason that we cannot pull the bulbs on the XLT lights and change them out to 4300K HID's with starters. I'm sure there is enough room. I did that on my Tahoe and was very, very pleased with the improvement in lighting.

No reason at all why you can't do that. I just installed a set of 6000k HID's in my Limited and I love driving at night now. World of difference, just make sure you aim them correctly.

If I'm swapping out the lights from the start, and the lights are supposedly aimed at the start, wouldn't they remain that way, or does the change in the bulb element affect the aim requiring me to re-aim both headlights?

Not all lights are aimed correctly from the factory, one of mine were a little lower than the other. Also, I noticed that HID's will throw a slightly different beam pattern. Not a big deal to re-aim them.
