I have a 2002 EB with the rear air controls in the headliner and airbags on the right and left side. Has anyone removed their headliner with the airbags and a/c controls in it? If so, how hard was it? Is it like removing the steering wheel, as in you have to let the backup battery in the airbag discharge before removing. I'm trying to decide if I want to try it myself or have a shop do it. I am going to install a flip down monitor. Any help would be appreciated.

yeah all SRS system work should sit with the battery disconnceted for ten or fifteen mineuts.

I have never done side air bags on a Explorer but on the cars I have done many of them have been quite a challange.

I will add that the bags attach to the vehicle and NOT to the trim.
( or at least that is the case on all I have worked on thus far )

Thank you for the response. Someone has to have taken down their headliner with the airbags in them?
