Heartland Run - Kansas

Ryan-
Great to hear you'll make it out. Mike and I are heading out to Manhattan on Friday, so just follow the directions posted above to get to the Days Inn. Recommend leaving the KC area about 6:30 am to meet us at the hotel at 9:00. If you sleep in, no sweat, just follow the instructions (above) to the ORV Park. We'll swing through the staging area frequently looking for anyone else who shows up...
And no, I'm not camping. As posted previously, I mentioned that option to entince Matt to come on out for the Run Dead Link Removed. The forecast I saw didn't look as bad. Mostly sunny with temps in the mid-40's.

Matt-
Try to keep us abreast on when you plan on leaving Colorado. We'll hold off on dinner if you guys can make it here before the 7:30 - 8:00 time frame.

Gerald-
Sorry you won't be there. You made the right choice to save your vacation days for Moab...Tuttle Creek is good, but it's a far cry from Moab!

Anyone Else-
Hey, if you contemplated coming out but didn't want to commit - - Come on out! As the original post stated, this is an informal, impromptu Run. Even if you don't want to four wheel, but spend some time checking out the rigs or meeting the faces behind the posts, you'll have a good time!

See you all in a few days,

Paul

Looks like we will make out after all Dead Link Removed. Dogman ,thanks for the info, it was very helpful. I just reserved a room at Days Inn for three nights. The rate was $44 a night no problem.
We will leave here at 6-7am friday and be there around 12 -13 hours later. The wife thinks I'm nuts.
Paul, hope the snow holds off, I was wanting to get away from it for a weekend. Dead Link Removed I plan on takeing a lot of pics so keep them rigs clean.
It will be nice to put faces with names. See you all then Dead Link Removed

3 quick questions:

1) Isn't there a toll between KC and Manhatten? How much is the toll?

2)Cops...anyone know where they are, and can I get away with screaming along at about 80 or so?

3)Are there any Quiktrips in Manhatten, or thereabouts? The way my rig GUZZLES gas, I will need to fill up, and I have a personal preference(read gas card) for QT.

I will probably wake up about 7 or so, and come out ASAP, expect me by around 9-10 I guess. See y'all there!

JJW-
Sorry to hear you won't make it out. Maybe Moab in May? For what its worth, it'll be clear(ing) here by noon tomorrow...but, better safe than sorry.

Matt-
We'll be out in the parking lot tomorrow evening, or at least in the rooms that are closest to our rigs. You've seen photos of our trucks on this thread - - mine blue, Mike's white...
Still planning on making it for dinner??

yeah I remember what your rigs look like, I'd just hate for everyone to run to their rooms and I'd be sitting there going "gee, I wonder where everyone is!" Dead Link Removed. Like I said its really going to depend on the weather and the iciness of the roads... guess we'll see...

JJW,

Like Paul, sorry to see that you won't be joining us. Hope we get to meet in the future. It looks like Manhattan and Tuttle Creek missed most of the precipitation. We have just a little light rain here in KC, nothing bad at all. Maybe next time.......

Matt and Ryan,

No worries. Have a safe trip and we'll meet you at the hotel, probably around 7pm. Just call us if you're going to be later. You should now have my car phone #, or call the hotel and ask for our rooms or just leave a message. If we're not in our rooms, we'll probably be in the parking lot getting a sun tan and sippin' those drinks that have little umbrellas in them. Ya mon!!!

Hey Paul, what was that motto again?
