  1. I apologize for my first post, It's in the wrong place...I hope this is right. Heater at any temp or in any mode blows cold air on the passenger side. 14 Explorer XLT Bought it in 16 I searched fuses but did not find an issue. I would like to avoid the dealer if possible...any ideas or experiences would be helpful...thanx TC

Welcome to the Forum.
If you are getting warm/hot air on driver's side and cold on the passenger side you probably have a problem with the blend door being stuck or the blend door actuator not working.

Peter

In addition to the above, just do a check on your coolant level and make sure you're not low.

I let it rest for the summer...its hot here about 8-9 months of the year. I did determine it is the actuator and will replace it soon as my wife is starting to get a little cold again...

Hi I have a 2014 explorer last week I went to turn the defrost on and had hot air on the passenger side and cold on drivers side and this week I lost the heat on the passenger side so now with the heat on defrost I have cold air blowing out any tips or knowledge to lead me in the right way to get this problem resolved would greatly be appreciated

That's what I call one long run-on sentence.;)
Chances are that you are having issues with the blend door actuators. Heat on one side and cold on the other appears to be a classic example of that. It looks like after that it got progressively worse and possibly other actuators are now involved.
Have a look at this post and the diagram in the following one. Heater Fogs Windshield But Defrost Comes Out Cold?

My 2014 Limited when into the local dealer on Monday, it was blowing cold air from the passenger side air vents. Reportedly they found the blend door actuator was bad, actually it had melted and was not functioning. While in the dealer's shop they found the engine cover was seeping oil, (around the timing chain cover) they are taking care of it under warranty, going to need the vehicle for an extra couple of days, they indicated is was a big job to fix that.

Since they are digging in to the valve cover, might want to have them do the water pump (depe ding on your mileage). It is only a few extra hours of labor.

I have an extended warranty from Zurich, the work on the HVAC is covered under that, the oil problem is on Ford. If the water pump goes, it will be covered by Zurich, vehicle only has 47K on the odometer.

Got the Explorer back on Thursday, 4 days in the shop, all no charge!

I am having the same issue, passenger side. Any tips on replacing the blend door/actuator?

Too old to tackle it myself, dealer did the repair, he said the motor was melted. Probably because the wife has it set to cremate on her side.

:snicker: "Probably because the wife has it set to cremate on her side."

The passenger blend door actuator sits right above a very hot heater tube (aluminum). Burned my hand on it while replacing the actuator. Bad design to have an electric motor with nylon gears above a 200 degree pipe. But I’d blame the wife too...lol.
