Heat Shield

I've finished with the pan drop today but the only issue I have is that PITA clip-on heat shield. I can't get it to fit back because the exhaust fitting is in the way. How is everyone else handling this?

Not to be a smarass, but, a few different sizes of crowbars, bent clips, partially broken shield, and cut knuckels. Just MAN it back on....

yeah, i think I just loosened the clips a bit and it popped right back on

no blood, no broken knuckles.

Yah, that's what I sort of figured by looking at it. I'm going to have to get under there and give it the "first class" treatment!

One more question, after doing a pan drop, how much fluid are you supposed to put back into the transmission? Chilton says 3 quarts, but it seemed to need more, so I added a fourth quart and it looks like it could still need more!

It could need more, just make sure you let it idle for about 5-10 min. so it can get to temp and make sure your checking it with the idleing in park. I think i added 5 or 6 the first time I changed mine but it was up on ramps for a while.

You can't always figure how much to add by the amount you drained. The transmission could have been a little low. Some fluid might have spilled on the floor, your clothes, or got on your hands while draining it.
