Heated and Cooled Front Seats

So I removed the front fuse block to look at the connector and found they were fine. No sign burned connectors which makes sense because the passenger side works fine. . seat bottom fan and tested it on the passenger side and it worked fine. I also know the seat fan in the drivers side works because I tested it on the passenger side.
I had the truck in the Ford shop today and they pulled a fan and module fault. So I guess the fan in the seat backrest is the one they are finding a fault in and they said that the module is in the seat cushion area. I found the back rest fan on line easy enough for $118 but when it comes to the module all I find are one that is in each seat but does not say what it is used for and it costs $501

Do you have a part number for the module? The following is all I came up with when checking out the front seats on the Levittown Ford site.

So I’m looking to get a newer Explorer for the safety features 2020 or newer. I live in the Phoenix area so I’ve been really excited about cooled seats, I know they are just ventilated. A friend has a 2020 Mustang and says his seats are super cold. I’ve got a full day test drive on a 2020 platinum in the garage currently. First thing I did was turn on the cooled seats and crank the air. It’s almost nothing. Granted it was nearly 100 here today but I couldn’t even tell there was air blowing. I know it’s just supposed to pull the air from you and kick it out the back of the seat, but it was not helpful at all, even with the vents pointed downwards . I did the tissue test and see that it sucks in the tissue on the back and a little portion of the seat, so I know it’s just ventilated. Is this all the cooling is? I pretty much told the dealer that chilled seats did not work and would they be willing to fix it. After doing some research it looks like when they changed the design in 2020 it significantly went downhill. I really thought it would be magical and be a big improvement here in the Phoenix area for driving around. I am a Ford guy with two explorers currently and an older F150 but does anyone know any chilled seats that are definitely amazing and would cool me out in the summer? Really disappointed with the explorer. I might have to rethink updating my Explore as the cooled seats were what I wanted. I could care less about the leather or the slightly better woodgrain panel. Believe it or not leather seats in the middle of the desert are not a great idea. I’d rather just save the money and take the cloth. What I’d really Love is seats that actually cool you. Any suggestions or ideas?

No, they're actively cooled by a Peltier device (thermocouple). But it takes a lot longer to lower the air temperature than a refrigerant system, and it can't work until the cabin is cooled by the A/C, so that's another delay. It's not instantaneous.

I've always hated leather & preferred velour.

The peltier looks like it stopped with 19 models. Definitely in the F150 and probably Explorer. 2020 and up is just ventilated which supposedly pulls the heat from you and pushes it through the seats out the back . The 2020 I am trying barely blows or pulls at all even though it is working. Looks like just poor design. I’ve never heard anyone say it works really well on Explorers.Doing more research last night it looks like people across all brands complain about the cool seats not doing anything. Many people go back-and-forth with the dealer thinking they don’t work, but it’s just that they are so light and ineffective. Tech must not be good enough to notice a difference. It’s too bad because this technology could really be good for people that are stuck in the desert, Phoenix, like I am.

Welcome to the Forum DJ1111.
I've never heard about "it’s just supposed to pull the air from you and kick it out the back of the seat". The seats from what I recall have a solid plastic back. The cooling is done by pulling air from the cabin and blowing it up under the seat cushion and up the back of the seat. I haven't had any issues with them in my previous '20, '23 or current '25 Aviator which I picked up last November. The 5th gen Explorers I had were good, not great.
