heater and ac compressor???

ok i have a 97 xlt and i was woundering if its normal for the ac compresser to cycle on and off when using heat, at full heat it does this and it just doesnt seem logical to me, i also dont wana #### somthin up.

I think on most cars it runs with the defrost on .
 






so is that why its cycling to dry the air? you have choice to run yours? ill have to check to see if it just does this with the defroster.
 






In ANY of the following positions, the compressor will run continuously:

-A/C position (MAX or NORM)
-PANEL/FLOOR
-FLOOR/DEFROST
-DEFROST

From that list, I think only FLOOR is left, which I believe is the only position the compressor won't run.
 






weird, when you say it runs does it stay on or is it engaging then disingaging instantly?
 












it will cycle on and off, as if the a/c was running.

ok thank you, another related question. nothing comes out of my driverside vent. any ideas?
 






Is the vent open? There is an actuator under the vent fins to open close the vent.
