Heavy Trans

I have a 93 sport with the auto trans ( I think it is the LD) and I want to swap it for a heavy duty trans so I can pull better loads.
I want to stay with the auto trans, so what are my options? I want to be able to pull a 12' trailer.

Also what would be a good motor(V8) / trans combo that i could go to.

your existing swap option are somewhat limited. With the 4.0 probably the best you could do is a 7R400... any switch can create some computer and wiring issues.... I am not up on that swap but others could fill you in. As for swapping both engine and transmission... you'd be looking to go to a 5.0 V-8 and a 4R70W (with all replacement wiring, computer, etc). The 4R70W can be built pretty darned strong for towing if that's what you want.

A C4 (or was it C5) will bolt up to the 4.0L, but you will loose overdrive, and you probably don't want to do that.
