I am Lisa and I am exploraholic, but seriusly I have a 96 4.0 explorer. its a great truck but I have a problem right now. my father is a mechanic but cant seem to find the specs he needs to check the fuel rail presure. its reading 30 psi idleing and is steady but when I have bene driving it from time to time it will suddenly act like Im running out of fuel the idle starts to drop down , the engine will buck a little and then stall. it start right back up though and if you give it a little gas it will keep running. what do you all think?

Have you replaced the fuel filter? Could be starving...

Welcome to this forum! I agree that it sounds like the fuel filter, but have you cleaned the MAF sensor, IAC solenoid, and the throttle body? Does it smell like fuel? It could be an out of spec ECT sensor. Do you have a check engine light or a flashing overdrive light?

I think it is possible your crank position sensor might be going bad.
