I just joined the forum, but I am not new to forums. I am a active member of a gun forum which is my hobby and passion. I live in the Dallas Texas area and am looking for info on diagnosing and repairing my transmission, preferrably without sending it to a transmission shop. The od light is flashing, and did also set the check engine light with code P0745. Shifting is harsh or doesn't shift to 2nd at times unless shifting the column shifter manually.

P0745: "Pressure Control Solenoid A, shorted circuit"

Solenoid A controls fluid pressure fed to the internal components which are engaged to produce 2nd. gear. A pretty good bet replacement of the solenoid module will fix that baby. If the transmission is type 5R55W, which I think it is, solenoids are not individually replaceable. All 8 of them are permanently mounted to a sub-base which attaches to the underside of the valve body. If you are reasonably mechanically inclined, the only problem you likely will run into tackling the job, is refilling the trans with fluid.

I bought my solenoid module for my '04 on Ebay, brand new factory original in Ford sealed box, about $ 260. Let us know which way you solve this. imp

Well, I replaced the solenoid pack with a new part from Ebay, not remanufactured, and filled the transmission using the proper adaptor that I bought from Matco Tools, and a fill bottle that I made from a washer solvent jug. Cleared codes, and it is still doing the same thing, so I am now looking at a possible broken intermediate band or something fom what my research has gathered. I am going to post this on the proper board and see where it leads since this is the welcome thread. Thanks.
