welcome to EF!!!! nice 1g! what parts ya looking for?

@Matteo93x Nice find! Welcome to our collective backyard, this place has saved most of our necks at least once.

Quite a difference the wheels and tires make, eh? I spy 2nd-gen teardrops (that's what my Sport came with... I should've kept those) in the second pic! I was in NC when I flipped 'em, they might be from mine! :P

4.10 Dana 35? Check scrap yards and online stores like RockAuto for complete axles or just ring/pinion sets. If you're really gonna wheel her hard or plan on keeping her for a long time no matter what, it's worth the extra cost to have your diff's rebuilt and just swap in the new gears meanwhile. Or if you're of the gearhead sort, and can do it yourself, I might just have a spare set of 4.10's hangin' around my parts bin...

@DintDobbs iirc the 1gs have a different diff they had TTB suspension and rhe reverse rotation gesrs i think. but, maybes theres a way to get em to work!

the rears afaik are identical

agreed though when its out refresh it!

@Fix4Dirt Yeah, I had forgotten about that matter on the 1st gens... and since he didn't say he's looking for a rear end, we can sort of assume he's already got that together. And I meant just the gears, not the whole diff, but if he needs the reverse cut, then mine will do no good! My ignorance, I should have been in bed an hour ago any way.

@Matteo93x @Fix4Dirt is right, you want the reverse cut 4.10's, and you'll likely want a master install kit (even if not necessary) if you just get the gears to swap in; even if it's not really necessary, it will save you from having to worry about going back in there for further diff work afterwards.

Regardless of whether you get the whole axle or just the gears, you should make sure to have the diff fluid changed for new. You'd be surprised how many people run these for decades without even considering the fact that diffs need oil too.

Thanks man yeah I like these wheels.Pulled them off of a Eddie Bauer explorer second gen parts truck.that is where I'll be sourcing the rear 4.10 ls axle.ill be replacing diff fluid and gasket when I do.Im actually planning on getting that sooner then later and rocking 2wd only until I can take care of the front pumpkin/diff.gears and install kit is about 500$.hopefully done by Christmas 😂 thanks guys

Welcome Matt from your neighbor to the north in southern Va. Nice find. I still refuse to let go of our 99 Sport.

Thanks senior Donalds, just went to Linville gorge yesterday,or Wiseman's view is what they call it.14 mile fire road old highway 105 is how you get there.it was fun to 4x4. I took my 2000 expedition.the explorer was not ready for that trip yet but soon will be.
