Just bought a 1998 mercury mountaineer. Owned a few Explorers. Great vehicles.

Good deal on being a V8. Check engine light on? These are picky about plugs and wires. I’d make sure the wires are decent and you have Motorcraft plugs in good shape.

I see you run 31X10.5X15 . Any rub?

On my current one I have none. My last one I had some considerable rub until I did a torsion twist.

No check engine light. Someone removed the front cv axles. Just replaced shocks and mater cylinder. New rear shackles because someone put 2 inch drop blocks on the rear.

Must have an issue with the 4404. Great time for the 4406 swap.

I was thinking about doing that. Maybe in September when I'm done with my cougar.

I’m surprised it doesn’t creep in Park.

Went over the truck real well. Front drive shaft and cv shafts are missing. So I think I'm going to take my time and do this thing up the way I want to. Any good suggestions?
