Hi, I am here because I am in need on some information. I recently bought a 2003 Ford Explorer XLT V8 and I love it. It has problems; I just changed one of the 3 catalyctic converter and still have some rattling noise. I am more interested in changing the valve cover gasket for there's a leak in the coils possibly causing some misfirings. I want to keep this car and I love working on it. I might've bought a lemon; it's lemonade time!

Welcome to this forum! What does a valve cover gasket have to do with a coil pack?

When a friend's son, who's an experienced mechanic that works for his uncle's shop, tried to diagnose about the misfirings on coils 6 and 8 per DEQ results. When he pulled the coil 6, it was dripping with oils. One of his diagnosis was that the valve cover gasket needs to be replaced, and same contention when I tried to explain to a few friends who knows about cars. So based on other posts I read here, I am willing to take replace the valve myself. I know that if I screw it up, I'm the only one to blame. I know it's a complex but I have the patience and willingness to learn.
