Hello everyone!
Just purchased a used 97 ranger rwd with 3.0L V6 and a 5-spd manual transmission. Beautiful truck. Was my inlaw's and he only racked up 56,000 km so far, so it's like new! It drives nice and seems to be fugal on fuel. All around, I'm very happy to have picked up this truck.
I have a couple of questions thought. I've tried to do some resarch into the "Lone Ranger" option that this truck has. "Lone Ranger" is embroiderd into the headrest portion of the seats and is printed on the tailgate. What all was included with this package? This truck is basically loaded except for power windows and locks.
The other question is regarding a screech coming from under the hood. It's not a belt issue and I guess I'll have to do some research myself before I take it to the garage. A friend thought it might be the idler pully on for the belt, but I just read that it might be the camshaft position sensor. Why does it need a camshaft position sensor? Isn't the cam connected by a chain to the crank shaft and is only in one position anyways?
Any insight you experts have would be appreciated in getting me started to fix this screech.
