Thanks! I like to do my own repairs when I can and a site like this with fellow Explorer owners should be great. After some repairs I need to make I'm looking forward to some mods!

Going to start by replacing the driver side power window motor. I was hoping just the switch went bad but I've got power all the way to the window motor. Is it possible to just switch out the motor without pulling the entire mechanism out? I see the whole power window unit ( motor, replacement tracks etc are pretty affordable on amazon) so might be better to pull it all at the same time.

Yes, will be attempting that today, in fact. If you press the switch and your dome lights dim, switch should be OK. Switching just the motor, it's 2 bolts and one hole to drill. Can unplug the motor and apply 12 volts to the plug to test it..On my 98 XLT 4X4 BUT apparently on the 94 you have to fix the regulator in place or it will spring on you hazardously, if memory serves me. Check this forum, quite a lot of discussion on the subject
UPDATE: Unfortunately the used OEM motor I got from Ebay, doesn't run either! Will be taking it apart to see if it the the easily rebuilt nylon bearings that is the problem...

Thats lousy your motor from ebay didnt work! Hopefully you can get it going. I will look deeper into just switching out the motor on mine since the rest of the regulator appears fine. Sounds like I have some reading of past posts to do on the subject! Thats whats great about these forums, so much good info!

As far as i know you need to remove the whole thing unless its been changed before because they are riveted in.

Dang! Oh well, I'll get the whole motor/regulator assembly since it isn't all that pricey. Thanks for the heads up!
