Hello

I am a newb here, and am sure glad I found this place! Last week while I was driving my truck stalled out. I got it going and pulled into a parking lot. When I restarted it, and put it in drive it immediately stalled. Started it again, and put it in reverse and it worked. I found when I finessed the gas while putting it in drive it worked - but would end up stalling again.

I brought it to the shop and he ended up putting new upper ball bearings on (needed it) and was told everything else looks great. He ended up cleaning out some lines etc...

NOW. I start my truck and it goes into drive fine. But, if I let off the gas and am just coasting it doesn't buck so to say, but has trouble shifting down I guess? I don't even know if that makes sense or not.

Anyone know what could cause this?

...have them read your codes...:D

is that something the dealership would have to do?

...call around to auto parts houses like autozone schucks etc...some will check them for free for you...then bring the info back here...;)

...let me add, tranny codes, if that is the problem would be read at dealership or tranny shops...i'm not sure yet if your problem is tranny or not...we have a couple excellent tranny guys on here, but the codes will save so much guessing...;)

Welcome to this forum! How many miles do you have? When was the last time you replaced the transmission fluid, and filter? Did you every have the bands adjusted? Sometimes bands could break. High mileage transmissions might have a failing EPC solenoid, bad valve body gaskets, or loose valve body bolts. In some cases, the valve body would need to be rebuilt, or the servo pistons would need to be replaced.

First of all, you guys are awesome. Thank you!

So - my anti freeze is leaking. Humango puddle underneath my truck. I'm at work right now, so I got my hands on a bit of anti freeze and did a 50/50 mix of that and water to get me home (30 miles, ugh) and then it goes back into the shop tomorrow.

Basically to elaborate on my issue - I would be coasting and all of a sudden it would rev up to 3,000 rpms without my even touching the gas and then jerk back down to 1000, 15000.
