My name is Kevin Cogan and I am in the process of rebuilding a 1996 Ford Ranger. It has the 4.0 engine, with a manual 5 speed. transmission with "on the fly 4 wheel drive". Current motor status is both cylinder heads removed with verified cracks between valves on cylinder 3 and 4. New heads are being prepared by machine shop with installation scheduled to start 1/6/2017.
The previous owner did not take care of it for over 4 years so while it is a solid truck it needs TLC to return it to the road. In tank fuel pump replaced, injectors to follow. I purchased Ford Ranger Shop Manual but find it is lacking in detail regarding the 4.0 OHV engine. All specifications are tabeled and listed as required but this rebuild is going to require some advice from knowledgable people, and that is the primary reason for joining.
