hey all you explorers,

i've had a vibration in my [new] used [16k] 2000 4x4 xlt. seemingly an engine vibration.

i've had the tires re-balanced, been to the dealer twice.

i went in today for this problem again, their dignosis is a out of round rear drive shaft. they did not say bent, only out of round.

has this happened to anyone here or has anyone heard of this happening before?? anybody?

have any of you technicians heard of this?

it is under warranty so i will only pay with my time, this seems strange.

thanks for any input

peter

Hey Peter, you are the first person i have seen on here from WV and you happen to live in the same town as I!! That's good know though. I have heard of this before but i have not experienced it. If you went over to Midway then i would trust them. I know a lot of the guys personally and i trust them. The do really good work over there too. So i couldn't be more technical!

Happy trails!!

hi josh

midway rocks! the guys in the service dept are why i bought the new truck there.

it is a small world. i live right next to the tennis courts at sleepy hollow.

i passed you the other day [last thursday late morning] i was coming back from elkins, going south on i 79, you were going north?

i've been to your website and thru the same spot on hurricane creek, heading in to boyer woods.

where were some of those other pictures taken? nitro?

give me a call 545.xxxx cell

i'd like to meet you and discuss some wheelin.

thanks

peter

Hey, good to know a WV person! Yeah, i'm really good friends with Will Poston in the service. If you have a problem ask him, he's only 23 but he'll tell you what you need to know.

Yeah i was headed to Elkview, i wish it was for fun, but we had to put my Grandpa to rest. I have some family that lives up there.

I'll give you a call when we are going to do some wheeling. I'm at boyer woods about every weekend weather it's my truck or my 4 wheeler. I've not been to Nitro in my explorer because they keep the gate locked up by the lake, but i have been there on my 4 wheeler.

I live in Hurricane on Hayslette Ave., off of Virginia Ave.

Do you do much wheeling? I so then that's good. How far back have you been from the creek on Hurricane Creek? It gets nasty up there. Good to hear from you, if i don't call you first here is my number: 541-1763

Happy trails!!

josh

will was the man helping me today.
we didn't get off on the best foot the other week, i was pissed off and thought i was getting the run around.

he was very helpful today.

have you ever met jason nutter, jonathan dunbar, [they are usually out at the route 35 side of boyer] ?

i went as far out as i could [in my '98] past the creek following 2 friends on their 4wheelers. i had bf goodrich all-terrains ko's on the '98.

i'm sorry to hear about your grandpa.

i like going to mount rogers [aprox 5700'] highest peak in va, and whitetop mountain [aprox 5500'] 2nd highest peak there. it's only about a 3.5 hour road trip.
it's about the same time to spuce knob, but it's higher in va.

we might have to road trip to tellico,n.c this summer for that proposed get together [ here at explorer forum]

i will go wheeling whenever i can, but i'm going to be a little more mellow with this truck [for now].

see ya

peter

I had a friend that put underbody protectant on the bottom of his car. Really smart guy, he painted EVERYTHING. Well, only half of his driveshaft was painted and it caused a bad vibration. What was funny was it seemed everytime he took it in, the painted side was on top and couldn't be seen. Finally they took it off or twisted it or something and noticed it.
