My 04 explorer recently started making a rubbing/vibration noise 2months after I changed the upper ball joints.it only does it when I'm parking not while I'm driving. Any idea what it could be
Thanks in advance

Your ABS sensors may be rubbing on the signal generator vanes in the rotor.

If you replaced the sensors during the ball joint job, the new ones tend not to fit just right.

But for sure check that your wheel bearings are still snug.
Movement from loose bearings will cause this.

When I replaced my ABS sensors I noticed that the new one's were rounded slightly
on the pick-up end. Even after running-in the new bearings ( had to re-torque bearing preload 3 times before they settled in ) the ABS sensors continued to rub slightly but since they were under warranty I just drove hard as usual. They eventually "wore" in. But did not cause a failure. Been in there two years now.

Hope this helps. Oh and even if you didn't replace the bearings it is good practice to re-torque your bearings after the first 50 miles or so after reassembly.

Also bearing pre-load means that there needs to be sufficient pressure on the bearings to account for wear and to insure they are seated in the race properly.

If you do not have a torque wrench a good rule-of-thumb is to snug up the inner nut (this does not require a lot of torque) just snug it up until it becomes a bit difficult to turn the rotor. Best to remove the brake caliper so you get a better feel without brake drag.

If you spin the rotor with all you've got you should only get about a half turn before it stops. If it goes spinning freely it's to loose.

Then re-install the lock nut or key or whatever your hub design uses to "keep" the bearing nut from backing off.
