Hey guys,

Just recently in my 1997 Mountaineer 2WD, when I go to turn the wheel, you can hear a binding in the front end, and feel a slight popping in the steering wheel. It only happens between 0-15mph, after that it isn't noticeable. From what I can tell, the suspension is all original, but it doesn't squeak.

Any ideas of what I can look for? I'm making a larger than normal paycheck this weekend, so I'd like to resolve the problem while I've got the funds.

I'd also like any input y'all may have on what front/rear shocks I can purchase to replace the originals. I regularly tow my car hauler with it, so if there are any that could assist the rear a bit more, I'd be interested. I was looking at the Monroe Sensa-Trac's, but want some more advice.

Thanks!

I think I'd be having a look at my ball joints, tie rods, control arm bushings, wheel bearings and CV joints.

Jack it up and wiggle everything to look for worn parts.
Maybe stop by an alignment shop.

Also check the steering intermediate shaft it has a joint at the bottom that attaches to the rack.
