Hey guys

Do you of you guys have any sources for the procedure of removal, reassembly, and, installation and specs... etc etc for a 1999 Ford Explorer 2WD Transmission. This is for my Manual Transmission class in school. I need to write a paper on all those things i listed. So far my sources are, Mitchell OnDemand and ALL DATA. I might also get a service manual. Do any of you know any other sources or links?

Ive searched these forums and gotten some info but its still kind of confusing to me since i know nothing about ford explorers. Thanks!

If theres anything you need from me for you to help me, post! I'll check often because this is for school lol

I wasnt even aware that they came in a manual transmission but since its for Manual Transmission class, i would say manual transmission lol. I do not have the DVD, we only have Mitchell ondemand on the computer as a program where we can look stuff up.

thx for the reply

Check both links in # 47 of my list of useful threads for more information on the M5OD. I would be interested to see information on the A4LD on Mitchell On Demand if you could send it to me in an email (if possible).

Is M5OD the name of the tranny in the 99 explorer?

What car does the A4LD come out of? I'll search that today or tomoorrow when i get the chance.

thanks

The A4LD was used in many Ford, and Mercury 4 X 2, and 4 X 4 vehicles such as the Explorer, Aerostar, Ranger, and Mountaineer until 94. 95 - 96 had an upgraded electronic version called the 4R44E/4R55E. This was further upgraded in 97 - 2001 (Sport Track 2 door 2002) to the 5R44E/5R55E. 3.0L engines use the 4R44E/5R44E. 4.0L engines use the 4R55E/5R55E. 3.0L, and 4.0L engines use an A4LD (with various modifications for the 4.0L version). Explorers never came with a 3.0L engine.

Is there anything particular you would like to know about it? Theres so many topics.

Btw, the mitchell program wont allow me to copy and paste so i dont know how i'm going to copy it to here
