help 2wd ball joint replacement

I'm looking for info on replacing the ball joints on my 2wd explorer

So its the same process even when 2wd?
 






2wd is even easier to do ball joints, because you don't have to deal with the axle shaft. You could even leave the rotor/bearings all assembled and just take the knuckle out with it and press ball joints in/out that way. I would disconnect abs sensors if you have any, then press slide pins out of calipers. Hang calipers up out of the way. Knock the tie rod end loose from the knuckle, then seperate the ball joints. Take the steering knuckle to the bench and press in and out.

You can, but if you're doing ball joints, it's a good chance to re-grease the wheel bearings, replace the seals, and clean up any rusted parts.
 






I had done my brakes back in may so I prolly won't have to regrease my bearings.
