Ball joint replacement success???

Through the help of the sticky in this forum, I tackled this job after the shop quoted me $350. 92 ford, no ABS in front, so fairly straightforward. However, I went to put the knuckle back on and i put a bottle jack underneath the lower ball joint to push up and hold in place while i tightened the nut. Went fine however I wonder if it is seated properly as there is about a little more than an 1/8-1/4 space between the rubber sleeve on the lower ball joint post and the frame. Should the post be all the way in so that the rubber sleeve touches the frame? I tightened the lower ball joint nut to spec but it still doesnt pull the post all the way up to touch the rubber sleeve...
Any ideas?

How did the upper line up? You still have the old lower, I think I would make some measurements and see if I got a wrong part.
