I took my X to the shop for a trans rebuild , the guy told me the trans was going to act up for 2 or 3 days and that is normal after 5 days still acting up i took it back he told me the shift level needed an alignment because the X would not shift in the right place after he finish, i went into the X and it would not reverse only D so i went and told him after less than a minute he said i need a new shift cable for reverse and was going to tell me how much it cost after calling ford

should i be paying for it or him? if him how do i go from here report him to the bbb.org?

I would question him as to why a properly rebuilt transmission would EVER act up?
If rebuilt properly, there are 0 issues.
Where the truck shifts (as far as engine speed and vehicle speed is concerned) has nothing to do with any cables, and if it went into Reverse without an issue before the supposed rebuild, why the heck would it not do so after rebuild? What kind of warranty do you have?
Paperwork? Know a good lawyer?

mounty is right- this guy took your money and probably poured some trans seal or something into your trans and called it good hoping the light would go away.

I would tell him you want it fixed, or you're calling a lawyer. No properly fixed trans should "act up" for a few days unless the "mechanic" is waiting for the trans-fix stuff to try to cover the symptom up until he can cash your check.

The BBB should have an office near you, just google them and you should be able to get a phone number.

how much did he charge you? Its usually around $2,000. . .question i have did he charge a rebuild price? Or did he do something different? Also if it was a rebuild price what did he put in it? Master Rebuild kit ~$300-400 alone, no labor.

After mine was rebuilt it was sweet no problems or issues, in fact better than new.

Aamco 3,100 he upgrade the trans to 2009 edition well that's what he said and a 3 year warranty or 36k miles

Don't they offer a warranty?
Or Guaranty?

If I am not mistaken, Aamco is a franchise. Contact the corporate office if the local franchise owner does nothing. Might help prod him in the right direction, might not, but can't hurt.

can some one give me the aamco number i can't find it in google

the shop told me they will pay for the labor but i have to pay the part, is this fair?

Where did you get the transmission rebuilt?

NO! It isn't fair. You already paid him to fully rebuild the transmission, why do you need to pay for anything else?
He did not fulfill his end of the verbal contract, and wants you to pay him more to do so? I wouldn't give him a dime. Heres warranty info right off of Aamcos own website:

With AAMCO's 12-Month 12,000 Mile (20,000 Kilometer) Limited Warranty for automatic transmissions, your transmission's covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The 12-Month/12,000 Mile Limited Warranty covers your transmission and torque converter against defective transmission materials and workmanship - parts and labor - for a full twelve months or 12,000 miles of trouble-free driving. As with any AAMCO warranty, the 12-Month/12,000 mile Limited Warranty does not apply to failure caused by customer abuse, accident or alterations, or reimbursement of consequential damages. Your AAMCO Warranty is null and void if the covered vehicle is converted from a passenger vehicle to a commercial vehicle. Be sure to read your AAMCO Warranty to fully understand all of your rights and any other restrictions that apply.

The 12-Month/12,000 Mile Limited Warranty is honored even if you sell the car and transfer the title to someone else.

Sounds to me he owes you a properly functioning transmission, AT NO FURTHER COST to you.

Call AAMCO @ 1-800-GO-AAMCO, thats a national customer service line

Nevermind

put it this way, you just spent $3100 you shouldn't have to pay another dime, how do you know that was the problem in the first place. . . or was the cable damaged during repair?

Just be polite about it . .gets you further, also mention the board and what everyone thinks, also call that 800 number and see what they suggest. Then talk to him again with your duck in a row.

What prompted you to take it in the first place?
i question the 'trans to 2009 edition' is it still a 5r55s/w?

Completely off topic, but of interest. I just went to the Aamco website (www.aamco.com) and found some very interesting information. If you want to start your own location, their fees are:
License Fee $39,500
Equipment $80,000 - $100,000
Working Capital $30,000 - $50,000
Leasehold Improvements $20,000 - $30,000
Miscellaneous $40,000 - $50,000

HOWEVER, say you don't have that kind of cash to throw out there for it? Thats easy, go to their own "AAMCO resale opportunities" and you could pick up an established, running store for alot less than their stated 210-270K (I looked in Massachusetts because the OP is in that state and there are no locations in my state). One location is selling for $120K another is $125K, last one is $225K. That tells me that while the operators of the locations in question most likely paid substantially more to open their businesses (factor in inflation for the dollar), they are willing to "walk away" for a fraction of the initial investment. I see a company in trouble.
