Help! after installing new speakers front work rear does not

I'm undergoing an interior change and have my entire interior ripped out except for the dash. I decided to change my speakers while everything's apart. The new front speakers work fine but the rear does not. It seams like no sound or power at all is coming from the wires and am unsure what could be wrong? could it be i need to bypass the factory amp? I've also heard that possibly removing the center console disables the rear speakers? any help would be appreciated.

think you need the center console back in if you have speaker controls in it.

yeah i thought that might be a possibility, I'm going to check right now
