Ok so I put in this new amp I got from a friend to run my one 12. Put it in on Thurday night it was working fine. Then I drove home from Tampa to Orlando which is about an 2 hour drive it ran fine the whole way home. Had it hitting pretty hard the whole way. Then I drove to my friendgirls house that same day everything still fine. Then I get in my car to go home the next day around 1 p.m. no sound from the sub at all. I got home to find out that the amp is in protection mode, and I have no idea way. I took the sub out look at it looks fine that wiring for everything looks good too. But the amp goes into protection mode even when the subs not hooked up after being reset.
HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!! What should I try?

have u checked the fuses and maybe some loose wires?

Check all your wires. It may have also overheated and you could try pulling the fueses and then putting them back in. I have had to do that before.

should check your connections, but it i think you should check your ground....

^^^check your ground...And all wires.

you might need a thicker earth wire and a decent grounding point, try to keep yr earth wire as short as possible and as thick as possible

Si

you might want to test your speaker. My buddy blew his 12 without knowing and couldnt figure out why it wasnt making noise. His amp was on protection mode because the blown speaker caused a short. Other than that check all the wires!

Good luck

Ok its still not working

So today I went out to my car. First I put in new fuses, and then check the wiring everything seems fine. Then with the music playing i put back the remote turn on back in, which in the owners manual said to do this to reset the amp. The amp turn on played for about 2 maybe 3 seconds tops then went right back into protection mode. So what does this mean now HELP!

try turning down the setting on the amplifier. you might be clipping it, and goes into protection mode.

also disconnect the speakers from the amp, or from the box (whichever is easier) and turn on the amp, if the amp goes back into protection then the amp is bad, if it turns on without it going off its good.

If good, connect the speakers again, if it shuts off the the speakers are shorted and they are shorting out the amp.

If you have another speaker, anything, try with that, if it dont shut off then your amp is okay and your speakers are shot.

Ok thank you well the amp goes into protection mode even when the speaker is not connected, so the amp is bad this is not good at all so I guess I need to see if I can send it in under warranty.

My friend had the exact same problem. all the wires looked like they were fine but a thread from one speaker wire was touching the other and it would short after turning on for just a few moments. I would pull the speaker wires out, make sure there are no loose threads, re twist them and then put them back in. hopefully thats whats wrong.

id try to run it lower for a long period and see if it still does it.
