I have a 93 XLT and i have worked on it before replaced a ball joint but now im attempting to replace the rotors and i cant seam to get the splined washeraxle shaft spacer washer as the book calls it it wont come off and it appears to be bevaled inward which i think it is sopposed to be flat so I have no clue what has happend but i cant take it apart at this time so i put it back together waiting some wisdom should i cut it off and replace it or am i missing somthing and why did it bend im new to 4X4s but not cars i have always fixed and rebuilt my own cars my so please fire your tips at me so i can get it done thanks joe you can email me at risingtides@verizon.net thanks
I had the same problem about 5 years ago. Took it to a shop and they had to break the washer off. Not sure how they did it though.
Just repacked my bearings again last night and had a similiar problem. I was able to pry the washer off this time though. Appears to be a gouge on one of the teeth so I filed it down and put it back on...although will probably have to pry it off again to replace. Speaking of which, I stopped at Ford this morning and the only way to get a new washer is to buy the complete hub assembly....$370.

...use A Big Flat Screwdriver To Pry It Off. Its Pretty Easy As It Will Bend Back To Shape. Junkyards Are Where To Get Spares... Posted via Mobile Device
