Hey guys, Blake here.
SO here's the new issue with the Exploder. For some apparent reason, I am losing coolant all the time, but it's not usually in the ground, it's on the underside of the engine. I'm talking like a gallon every other day.
I just recently installed my 3rd thermostat housing and after I did that, my coolant system went nuts. I fired up the truck and let it idle, and coolant was pushing through the clamped hoses and out of the sensor hole, with the sensor tightened into it.
I have noticed my temp gauge takes forever to warm up, then it bounces around from overheating to not, back down to C, then skyrockets to H. The funny part is, is I know the readings are correct. When it hits H the motor gets really loud and the coolant tank starts humming. When it hits C, it's all bogged down and there's weird ticking noises, like a power steering pump being maxed out.
I looked into the humming and found it could be the coolant cap failing to pressurize the system properly, does this sound about right to you all?
ALSO, I have a small valve cover gasket leak, but have had it for about 1.5 years. I've always had to top off oil and antifreeze every month, but not every day.
The initial start of the vehicle is very sluggish (could be that it's 5 degrees here and I have 650 Cold Cranking Amps) and the idle is rough as hell for about 10 minutes. Once the car heats up, the idle is fine. BUT THE HEATER DOESN'T WORK UNTIL HIGH RPMS. (Terrible for a 5am drive to work).
Could the heater thing be a water pump issue? The heater core seems to be fine, also thinking it could be a Blend Door Actuator, as the air blows through all vents at all times, even though the actuator is whirring and obviously on .
I'm just trying to narrow everything down because I'm balling on a budget and don't have money to just throw at her like I used to. (AKA College is back in session.)
Thanks guys!!
