I spent the last 2 nites taking my car apart. I took out the stock cd changer disconected everything and rehooked everything correctly. I cleaned the changer throughly and rechecked the connection. All the wires look fine. Yet, the DAMN thing will still not work. It will cycle through all the CD's and makes a high pitch whining noise then go to the next CD. WHAT DO I DO!!!!!!!!

Check your Changer cartridge

Check the slots in your changer cartridge (or "magazine") carefully. If you have at some time accidently stuffed two discs into one slot, the dividers of the magazine can become distorted, leading to loading problems. With NO DISCS in the magazine, the gaps between the dividers should appear evenly spaced. If the gap in any one slot looks larger than the others, somebody may have stuffed it with 2 discs. Once that happens, it will frequently act up, until that magazine is replaced with a new one.

Check it out.

regards,

Jeff

Thanks Jeff Ill try that

Ours did that- the laser is toast- they last about 3 years according to most repair shops. Its easier to buy a refurbed changer off Ebay or the web then to try and fix. Theres a place here in town that will sell a refurbed model for $120 with your trade in and offers a year warranty.

good luck

Hey Baja where do you live. Thanks for the info. I decided that it was my laser and i am off to find a new Changer. I would love to get a refubished one so I could keep everything out of sight.
THanks
Ben
