Hi, I'm new to the forum and could use some help. I've got a 2004 XL Explorer thats a work vehicle with the base AM/FM/CD player. I was trying to remove a CD, it ejected, then started to re-load, I pressed eject again and the display comes up with "EJ Err". CD plays OK, just won't eject. I was wondering if anyone had this happen before or knew a solution before I go back to the dealer. Thanks in advance.

I'd say push eject, again, and have some niddle nose plires ready so that when it comes out a little bit you pull it out with the plires... hope you have a copy of that cd...

oh... try unplugging the bettery for a while, and then plug it in again to see if that resets the cd

I'll give the battery a try, I pulled the fuse for the radio, but it didn't reset the clock or lose my presets so I don't think I killed all the power. The pliers won't work, it doesn't show any part of the CD, I just get the error message.
Thanks

Got my CD out - all it needed was some old fashioned persuasion in the form of a good smack on the top of the dash. I guess the CD wasn't loaded quite right and it dropped into the correct location. At least it keeps me away from the dealer for a while. :)

Thats awesome lmao(really)

My 6 pos. CD player has two locations in it that cd's won't eject from. I get the "ej err" from those two all the time. At first I thought it was because I had homemade covers on them, but it turns out those two will err on any of them. I took a 4" length of mechanics tie wire, bent a small hook on the end. When they stick, I insert the wire under the cd, turn it so the hook grabs the center hole, and pull them out. Can do it while going down the road now without looking at the cd.

Thank you, daveleeander! I have a single-CD player in my '04 Explorer that a CD had been stuck in for several weeks, and I didn't want to take it down to the dealer. :(

The little wire trick worked. Hooray, since we are taking a 350-mile trip today, and it will be much more enjoyable with an actual CHOICE of which CD to play!!! :D And the wire is in my glovebox, so I'm ready if it 'eats' another one. ;)

Had the same problem on 2 of my slots on my 2002. A good rap on the top of the dash & they both ejected.

when you unhook the battery just hit the horn or the headlights and thatll kill the power

happens in my 6 disk in dash all the time, the dash smack seems to work.
